More About Us

I build metal wall and garden art, mostly out of copper, but also sometimes including brass or steel. I'd like very much to build something for you! Please call or write or stop by at my booth at one of the craft shows I attend, or see some of my work at the Old Mill Crafters Guild in Allentown, NJ

Our Profile

As much as necessity is the mother of invention, Perihelion Copperworx grew out of an unanticipated period of unemployment spawned by the unraveling of the telecommunications boom of the nineties. Unable to occupy myself in my usual profession, systems engineering, I turned to old, familiar tools from my father's world: tin shears, tubing cutters, and soldering torches, and began to tinker with things creative. I sometimes have trouble calling myself an "artist" and though I'm not formally trained, I prefer to regard myself as a coppersmith. I'm a practical guy, not a pithy thinker, and so my creations might make you smile or maybe even laugh rather than ponder heavy thoughts. Whatever you think, I hope you like what you see.

My garage is my studio, and sometimes my living room is my gallery, though most people see my art at craft shows or here on the Web. Visitors are welcome in either place (at home by appointment).

You can see some of my work at the Old Mill Crafters Guild at 42 North Main Street in Allentown, New Jersey. The Guild is open every day, April through December (more limited hours January through February), and features some excellent work from local artists. You can reach the Guild at 609-208-2050.

My family is my staff. Kyle helps in the building and selling, Amanda helps also with the selling, and Marietta, my wife, helps by selling and keeping me organized. Stacy is the provider of laughter, perhaps the most important element.

Here on my Web site, you will find: 1) pictures of things that I've built; 2) contact information; and 3) a listing of shows I'm planning on attending. To see a larger picture of the piece, simply click on the thumbnail. Most of the pieces pictured here are designed for transport to and from craft shows, and are constrained to be portable. Orders for custom pieces are invited, and can be far larger. The craft shows I attend tend to be within a short drive of central New Jersey, though upon occasion I venture south to Ocean City, MD or north to Mystic, CT. Inquiries for wholesale orders are welcome.
